Journey to Thailand: Leg 2 of 3

We have just arrived in Tokyo after leaving Rochester at 10am. We connected in Chicago with a 1 hour layover before taking off at noon for Tokyo. It is about 2 in the morning in Rochester and 4 in the afternoon here in Tokyo.

The flight was really long. No kidding, really long. We have a 2 hour layover and then a 7 hour flight to look forward to. At least it is 5 hours shorter!

We have all kept ourselves entertained by sleeping, making frequent trips to the bathroom, playing cards, reading, etc. I see some delegates chatting it up with some of the Japanese passengers on the plane.

I close for now as some of us are off to hunt down some sushi straight from the source! I wish our layover was longer so we could explore Tokyo. Ah, wanderlust! Until next time!

Continued from last time: none of us had signal in Tokyo. So I was unable to post the above blog. Most of us got sushi while there, wow!

We then boarded for another long flight - 7 hours - to Thailand. As I write this it is 1AM and we are going through customs/immigration. I'd say most of us are overdressed having left a rather snowy Rochester. I know I cannot wait to shower/change clothes and to sleep lying horizontally.
Despite all of this, I still cannot believe I am in Thailand! I am excited!! (Even tho I probably don't reflect that right now).
While on the plane, I met a Christian couple travelling with a group of 8 to do missionary work in Thailand. It's interesting how different organizations can have different purposes when working/reaching out to others on a global scale.

Soon we will go to Khao San road which is a sort of backpackers' mecca. Our hotel is located there and from pictures I've seen - it looks to be an active place. Tomorrow is the Amazing Race where delegates will expore the city of Bangkok following instructions given to them by team leaders to find specific locations and to answer questions about those locations.

It should be fun as this is my first time in Thailand. The other two team leaders - Greg and Anthony visited last year. So it is a new experience for me as well as most of the delegates.

Ok, it is almost my turn in line so I will close for now!

Indeed! Khao San road!! The best part was riding the moped through the twilight evening of Bangkok from one marketplace to another sitting behind a overtly-confident rider that can skillfully swerve through the unnerving traffic! Nevertheless - grab that opportunity to let ur tongue fly and hope no bugs shall splatter on thy face and continue bloggin'
